Trying something new
I’m attempting to become more active in my photographic endeavours. I’ve realised that although the statement by Chase Jarvis “The best camera is the one that’s with you”, while accurate, is also kind of rubbish as well. I have an excellent smartphone with a crazy good camera system that takes fantastic photos in low light, uses machine learning and deep fusion to figure out what its the best exposure, blah, blah. The phots taken on my smartphone are essentially fine, they’re just... boring, kind of. I find myself stopping taking photos with my iPhone because I figure that if its a good enough scene to take a photo of, then I should use my actual DSLR.
This has brought about a new concept for me; Take my camera with me everywhere. It can be cumbersome to lug around my camera bag that has two cameras, five lenses, two speedlights, one teleconverter and multiple cables and remotes. So, my slimmed down approach is just to have my Sony a700 and my Carl Zeiss 24-70mm f/2.8 zoom lens.
On my way home from work I stopped to capture some photos of the country side. I think I’ll do this more often.
I need a bag...
